Now when Comedy Nights with Kapil has resumed its shoot on the original sets and aired one of its episodes, we can go on talking about the rise, fall and revival of Kapil’s comedy kingdom. The fire that broke out on the sets of ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ left the whole TV industry to speculate the reasons behind it. Surprisingly, Filmcity which was established in 1911 and located in Goregaon (East), Mumbai, did not have any arrangements to avoid such accidents? Filmcity, that is spread over 520 acres, serves as the venue for shooting movies as well as television shows and has gardens, lakes, theaters, grounds and recording rooms.

It is no new fact that Kapil Sharma became a hero of the masses with his show that had his name in the title ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’. One cannot overlook the fact that not every host gets his name in the title of the show. It is definitely a big deal for a person, who started as a comedian on the ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 3’, won the show and went ahead with other offers of doing comedy reality shows. His show became the most watched television show in just a week, TRPs say it all.

The first episode of the show got aired on 22 June 2013 and featured veteran actor Dharmendra who came for the promotion of his film ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2.’ Although, it seemed like an arranged guest on the show to attract viewers to the first episode, as the movie was in theatres since the first week of the month.
Well, He made the best out of it and with a little bit of slapstick comedy, he lived up to expectations and entertained everybody to the core.
Audiences wanted “Show me what you got baby….” and Kapil went on to show his hilarious timing and soon it became the number one show in the non-fiction category and maintained the position week after week. The beneficiaries were Kapil’s K9 productions and the channel Colors, who took the risk to showcase such a concept on Indian television and succeeded. Well, they deserved their due.
Celeb quotient Be it the badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, dusky beauty Deepika Padukone, Miss World turned actress Priyanka Chopra or young heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, all came to ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ for the promotions of their movies.

Rabir Kapoor expressed that, “I would like to play a character like Kapil Sharma, the things that he does on stage, being a stand-up comedian
bohot mushkil hota hai, and I mean this. I think he is blessed with such a comic timing, not everybody has it.”
Anil Kapoor has also taken his time slot of 10 o’clock on Friday and Saturday nights, thinking that it is the best time slot to get the viewership from the audiences who’ve been watching Comedy Nights.
